Streamline Live Production with Phenix and Sienna

In the fast-paced world of live streaming production in the cloud, centralization and flexibility are paramount. Phenix Real Time Solutions is excited to announce a powerful new integration with Sienna ND Processing Engine, a leading cloud-based production and video infrastructure system that simplifies and enhances live content delivery. This integration unlocks seamless WHIP publishing from Sienna directly to Phenix, empowering users with unprecedented control and scalability and unlocking new possibilities for live event remote monitoring and real-time streaming distribution.

The Phenix & Sienna joint solution offers:

  • Simplicity: Sienna's user-friendly interface requires minimal engineering expertise.

  • Flexibility: WHIP publishing allows for diverse output configurations (single streams or multi-views).

  • NDI Compatibility: Caters to the needs of freelance producers and modern cloud workflows.

  • ABR Support: Phenix’s patented ABR transcoding enables high quality, reliable delivery to the most isolated areas of the world.

  • Scalability: There is no limit to the number of concurrent channels or audience sizes.

  • No Lag: Producers can deliver faster streams than ever for their internal production environments, while also enabling their content partners to deliver superior interactive user experiences.

Understanding Sienna's Capabilities:

Sienna ND Processing Engine provides a user-friendly cloud platform that bridges the gap between various video protocols. With Sienna, you can effortlessly convert any incoming signal, such as NDI, to any desired outgoing protocol. This includes creating customized bitrate ladders for adaptive bitrate (ABR) delivery and crafting intuitive multi-view dashboards for real-time monitoring. Notably, Sienna's intuitive design eliminates the need for extensive engineering expertise, making it accessible to a wider range of users.

Phenix’s Chief Product Officer Bill Wishon noted, “Sienna has built a seamless, intuitive, and powerful solution for cloud video production and distribution. Integrating Sienna and Phenix now empowers customers to achieve more with less. We are excited to see how companies leverage these new joint capabilities.”

The Power of Phenix’s WHIP Integration, ABR Transcoding and Simple Playback:

Sienna users can now leverage the power of WHIP (WebRTC-HTTP Ingestion Protocol) to publish their workflows directly to Phenix channels enabling a seamless integration with Phenix's global real-time streaming platform. Whether you're delivering a single live feed or a robust multi-view experience, Sienna's output can be channeled to Phenix with ease. This includes the ability to output a single stream or multiple streams in a full-fledged multi-view experience. Sienna’s integration with Phenix allows for diverse production setups and tailored viewing experiences.

An additional benefit of this integration is the out-of-the-box support for adaptive bitrate transcoding in the Phenix cloud. Sienna empowers clients to select the outgoing resolution and bitrate, and the Phenix token for ingest can easily be configured to enable multi-bitrate transcoding for robust ABR delivery.

Phenix also simplifies video playback from remote monitoring use cases by providing a turnkey Multi-View Dashboard where users can select any number of streams to display, along with real-time feedback on video resolution, bitrate, frame-rate and several other metrics. Phenix’s global CDN network ensures a consistent and high-quality monitoring and/or viewing experience, regardless of viewer location or network conditions.

NDI Support and Freelance Producers:

Recognizing the growing demand for NDI support, particularly among freelance producers, this integration fully embraces this popular protocol. By enabling seamless NDI-to-Phenix workflows via Sienna, we're empowering media professionals with the tools they need to produce professional-grade live streams.

Video production expert at NIMBUS Control, Jef Kethley exclaimed, “This integration makes my life so much easier! Creating multi-views that can easily be consumed in the browser with next to no latency is a game changer.”

Sienna’s Chief Technology Officer Mark Gilbert added, “Simple publishing from Sienna into Phenix’s real-time CDN represents a significant leap forward in the combination of live streaming production and distribution technologies. Our users can now create and deliver exceptional live experiences with greater ease and efficiency.”
